DEAR KATIE

You are

the love of my life.

The mother of my children

my best friend and my wife.

so i’ve penned this simple poem

just to celebrate

our 11 years of love and joy

and learning to procreate

You are everything

I never knew I’d need

All the good and perfect lovely things

the woman of my dreams

YOu teach me everyday

how to a better man

Through the way you love me

kiss me, hug me

and the way you hold my hand.

you show me God’s goodness

in the grace you give to me

in spite of all my faults and flaws

you have only mercy

You let me take you by the hand

and dance our way through life

despite spins and spills

and stumbles

you’ve always held me tight

And when the days got dark and grim

I’d pray to god for help

to give you strength

and love and grace

to make your heart be well.

The weeping only lasts the night

and joy comes in morning

so close your eyes

and dream big dreams

and please pardon my snoring

Arise and shine your time has come

Shine bright you precious one

There is a world waiting in darkness

for your voice to bring the son.

so get on up Kate

you do you

grab your shades

roll up your sleeves

its time to put on

your dancing shoes.

but right before we drop that beat

let me look you in the eyes

and let me
